About
The Department of English, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Rasul, is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement in the fields of English Language, Literature, and Linguistics. The department offers the BS English program, which develops students' linguistic competence, literary appreciation, critical thinking, communication skills, and research capabilities. Graduates are equipped with the academic knowledge, professional skills, and ethical values required for successful careers in education, media, research, translation, public service, corporate communication, publishing, and other language-related professions.
The department follows the curriculum guidelines of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and implements an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework to ensure academic quality and continuous improvement. Teaching is enriched through innovative pedagogical practices, digital learning technologies, research-informed instruction, and continuous assessment. Students are encouraged to develop analytical thinking, creativity, intercultural competence, and lifelong learning skills while addressing contemporary academic and societal challenges.
A distinctive feature of the department is its interdisciplinary approach, integrating literary studies, linguistics, language education, and emerging digital technologies. Students explore diverse areas including British, American, World, and Postcolonial Literature, Literary Theory and Criticism, English Language Teaching (ELT), Applied Linguistics, Discourse Analysis, Corpus Linguistics, Pragmatics, Translation Studies, and Artificial Intelligence in English Studies. This integrated approach enables students to connect theoretical knowledge with professional practice and real-world applications.
The department follows an HEC-aligned Outcome-Based Education framework that develops academic excellence, critical thinking, professional competence, and lifelong learning.
The curriculum integrates Artificial Intelligence in English Studies, and advanced research methodologies to meet emerging academic and industry demands.
