Shafaq Khalid

I am a Lecturer in English at the University of Rasul, with nine years of teaching experience. My research explores the ways literary and cultural texts negotiate the inner complexities of human experience while revealing the social, ideological, gendered, postcolonial, and environmental structures through which identities are formed, distorted, and reshaped. My evolving research interests extend across psychoanalytic literary criticism, gender and feminist studies, trauma and memory studies, postcolonialism, race and representation, and, increasingly, environmental humanities and ecocriticism, with particular attention to ecological vulnerability, environmental injustice, slow violence, marginalization, and resistance. Alongside research, I have accumulated diverse higher-education teaching experience across the broader areas of literature as well as linguistics while remaining actively engaged in undergraduate research supervision, academic mentoring, internship supervision, curriculum development, and institutional responsibilities. My academic service has also included working as a QEC Focal Person, serving on event-organizing committees, and contributing to the intellectual and cultural life of academic institutions through the organization and hosting of major university events, including university convocations. I have further participated in research and professional-development initiatives associated with national and international organizations, including the Higher Education Commission and the British Council. At the heart of my academic work is an enduring interest in literature as a meeting ground of psyche and society, self and other, power and vulnerability- a space where the visible and invisible forces shaping human experience can be questioned, interpreted, and brought into critical conversation.
