Dr. Zeeshan Umar is a Lecturer in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Rasul, Pakistan, with a research background in antibiotic resistance and Helicobacter pylori. He earned his BSc in Microbiology from Hazara University and an MPhil in Microbiology from Quaid-i-Azam University, and completed his PhD at Zhejiang University, China, in 2022 with research on antibiotic resistance mechanisms within a One Health framework. He then held a postdoctoral position under Nobel laureate Prof. Barry Marshall, designing diagnostic methods for H. pylori infection and antibiotic resistance that combine microbiological and machine learning approaches. His current interests span molecular mechanisms of bacterial adaptation and resistance, particularly in H. pylori, clinical diagnostics, microbial genomics, and bioinformatics. Dr. Zeeshan is committed to excellence in teaching and research, with a passion for mentoring students in molecular microbiology and advancing evidence-based approaches to the diagnosis and management of antibiotic resistance.
